1822 N-4 R2 PCGS graded MS64 Brown, CAC Approved. Lustrous golden tan and light olive brown with faint peeps of faded mint red on the obverse and at least 5% of the reverse showing brighter mint color. The surfaces are smooth and this cent offers excellent eye appeal. The only notable marks are a spot of dark crud in the field just over the inner hair bun, a swipe of darker toning at NITE, and a spot of crud at the right bottom of that N. Nicely struck E-MDS. The obverse is uncracked and the inner circle near the dentil tips is clear from below the date to star 8 with another segment between stars 9 & 10. Graded MS60+ and tied for CC#3 in the Bland census. Noyes says MS60 net AU55, his photo #35604. Our grade is MS60. The attribution and Clapp-Ahumada provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 4 finer, 1 in 64+, 3 in 65 for the variety. PCGS #36721. Estimate Value $3,000 - UP
