Lot 52

1820 N-15 R2 Small Date PCGS graded MS64 Red & Brown. Frosty mint red mellowing to steel brown with about 80% of the obverse retaining mint red and 60% of the reverse showing mint color. The only notable marks are a small planchet flake on the edge under star 12 that caused some weakness on a dentil, a small splash of darker toning on the right side of the F in OF, and a thin radial nick through the right foot of the M in AMERICA. LDS with fine die rust on the reverse (tiny lumps on the coin) and crumbling in the upper notches of both N's in ONE CENT. Most likely from the Randall Hoard, but this is a particularly nice one. Our grade is MS64. The attribution and Ahumada provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 3; tied for finest RB of the variety. PCGS #36704. Estimate Value $2,000 - UP
Ex Chris McCawley 1/1993-Manuel Ahumada Collection.
