Lot 37

1819 N-7 R4 PCGS graded MS64+ Brown. Lustrous mint red mellowing to olive and steel brown with at least 20% of the planchet showing faded mint color. The surfaces are covered with satiny mint frost and this cent offers outstanding eye appeal. The only notable marks are a faint horizontal hairline to the right from the lower point of star 3 and a small nick in the field midway between the tip of the nose and star 4. The reverse is pristine. MDS with the always-present die rust covering the reverse (tiny lumps on the coin). Graded MS63 and CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #35658. Our grade is MS63. This is a superior example of the toughest variety of the year. The attribution and Ahumada provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; the only MS BN of the variety. PCGS #36646. Estimate Value $10,000 - UP
Ex Thomas F. Keenan 10/1995 (via Del Bland)-Manuel Ahumada Collection.
