Lot 356

1845 N-2 R1 PCGS graded MS64 Brown, CAC Approved. The obverse is lustrous bluish steel and chocolate brown while the reverse is a lustrous lighter shade of uniform golden olive and tan. Traces of faded mint color remain visible on the obverse and this cent offers excellent eye appeal. The only notable mark, and it is barely visible, is a small puff of slightly darker toning in the field midway between star 4 and the nose. Sharply struck E-MDS, die state a late. The fine die lines connecting the second A in AMERICA to the leaf below and the small lump over the N in ONE are weak but visible. Our grade is MS63, tied for CC#1 in the Grellman census. A nice cent that comes with an equally nice provenance. The attribution and Brown-Heard provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 3; 2 finer in 65 for the variety. PCGS #397743. Estimate Value $800 - UP
