1844/81 N-2 R2 Overdate 44 over Inverted 18 PCGS graded XF45. Glossy light to medium chocolate brown with hints of reddish chocolate toning in protected areas on the reverse. The surfaces are smooth and show only minor contact marks including two closely spaced parallel nicks in the field over the left edge of star 12. MDS, die state b. The tiny points from the left edge of the E in CENT are gone but the 44 over 81 feature is obvious. Our grade is VF30+, close to VF35. The attribution and Heard provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 3; 4 finer, 1 in 55, 1 in 58, 1 in 62,1 in 63 for the variety. PCGS #397722. Estimate Value $500 - UP
