Lot 323

1831 N-2 R2 Medium Letters PCGS graded MS63 Brown. Very attractive lustrous bluish steel and olive brown. Mint frost covers this cent and the eye appeal is outstanding. The only marks are a very faint planchet lamination that bisects the obverse from right of star 7 to the left side of star 1 and a microscopic planchet flake over the E in CENT (both defects as struck and neither visible without the aid of a glass). LDS with a rim cud that nearly reaches the outer point of star 11. There is minor strike doubling on the curls, stars 9-13, and ERTY (from die bounce). Our grade is MS60. The attribution and Naftzger-Heard provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 2 finer in 65 for the variety. PCGS #36994. Estimate Value $1,000 - UP
