Lot 319

1829 N-1 R3 Large Letters PCGS graded MS63 Brown. Frosty tan and light brown with darker steel brown toning on the highpoints. A couple tiny peeps of faded mint red can be found on the obverse. The only mark is a small, inconspicuous spot of darker toning (not carbon) at the tip of the leaf under the E in UNITED. Looks mint state but there is a touch of rub on the highest points of the portrait. In addition the strike on the reverse is weak, particularly on the wreath and ONE CENT, but the obverse devices are nicely impressed. LDS with a fine die crack though the tops of ER in AMERICA extending to the dentils over the adjacent M. Our grade is AU58, same as the PCGS grade. Previously removed from an NGC slab graded MS63BN (NGC label #502798-001 included, and it shows the attribution and Rasmussen provenance). Comes with a nice provenance. The attribution and Rasmussen-Heard provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 4; tied for finest of the variety graded MS BN at both services. PCGS #36910. Estimate Value $2,000 - UP
