Lot 27

1818 N-6 R1 PCGS graded MS64 Brown, CAC Approved. Very attractive and highly lustrous bluish steel brown and chocolate with 5-10% of the mint color remaining on the obverse. The only marks are a trio of small parallel nicks on the end of the chin and a tiny diagonal nick off the left end of the line below CENT. LDS with dull but strong parallel die lines (possibly from a lap stone applied to the die to smooth away a flaw) behind ICA in AMERICA and the reverse dentils weakened or missing altogether. Doubling from die bounce shows on the tip of the nose, on the jaw near the throat, and boldly along the bottom edge of the bust. Called MS63 Choice and tied for CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #20952. Bland says MS63 and tied for CC#1 in his census. Our grade is MS63 as well.
