Lot 265

1801 S-221 R2 Corrected Denominator 100/000 PCGS graded VF25. Glossy medium chocolate brown with slightly lighter chocolate toning on the devices. Looks perfectly smooth to the unaided eye, but a glass reveals specks of raised verdigris around UNITED and STA. Otherwise this cent is quite nice, nearly choice. Only a few trivial contact marks; a tiny nick on the bottom of the I in LIBERTY may help identify this cent. MDS, Breen state IV, with very narrow rim cud breaks over F AME (barely visible in the holder). The date and legends are complete and clear. The Corrected Denominator feature (100 over 000) is obvious under light magnification. A decent example of this popular "Redbook" variety in spite of the minor surface imperfections. Our grade is VF20+ sharpness net F15. The attribution and Heard provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2, 5 finer for the variety. PCGS #36284. Estimate Value $1,000 - UP
Ex Shawn Yancey 8/12/2008-Gene Heard Collection.

Realized $1,645
