Lot 241

1794 S-65 R1 Head of 1794 PCGS graded VF35. Very attractive glossy medium olive brown and chocolate. The surfaces are smooth and this cent offers great eye appeal. No corrosion or verdigris, only minor contact marks, none distracting. The best identifying marks are a tiny diagonal nick on the cheek midway between the ear lobe and nostril and a short, dull scratch between the R & I in AMERICA. LDS, Breen state IX, with all the die cracks described by Breen. The date is bold and the legends are complete, although some elements on the reverse are weakened by the bisecting die crack and associated swelling that nearly obliterates the second A in AMERICA. Our grade is F15+, close to VF20. The attribution and Heard provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS #35654. Estimate Value $2,000 - UP
Ex H. Craig Hamling 8/28/2006-Gene Heard Collection.

Realized $1,645
