Lot 234

1793 S-4 R3 Chain AMERICA with Periods PCGS graded VF25. Glossy chocolate brown with slightly darker steel brown toning on the highpoints and traces of frosty lighter brown in protected areas. An attractive cent, void of corrosion or verdigris showing only microscopic contact marks. The notable marks are a very light rim bruise under the 3 in the date and some very faint hairlines in the field before the portrait. LDS, Breen state III. The die cracks from the rim under the lowest curls are clear and a tiny cud break has formed where the cracks emerge from the rim. The date and legends are complete and clear, and the punctuation following the date and LIBERTY is obvious. A very nice example of the "Periods" variety of our Chain Cent. Our grade is F15+, close to VF20. The attribution and Heard provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 3 in VF; 5 finer for the variety. PCGS #35444. Estimate Value $25,000 - UP
Ex Harry Laibstain circa 2012-Gene Heard Collection.
