1838 N-3 R1 PCGS graded MS65+ Red & Brown, CAC Approved. Lustrous bluish steel brown and olive with more than a third of the planchet showing slightly faded mint red. A beautiful cent, very close to gem. The only notable mark is a microscopic speck of carbon at the dentils under the second 8 in the date. MDS. The fine vertical die lines over the E in CENT are gone but there are no rim cud breaks on the obverse. The extra center dot on the reverse (the so-called "Colon" center dot) is clear. Graded MS65 and CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #35121. Our grade is MS64+. The attribution and Ahumada provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; finest RB of the variety at both services. PCGS #37187. Estimate Value $2,000 - UP
