Lot 173

1838 N-1 R1 PCGS graded MS65 Red & Brown, CAC Approved. Beautiful lustrous mint red mellowing to light steel brown with at least two-thirds of the mint color remaining. This is an eye-catching cent, and it looks absolutely flawless. The only mark is a fine hairline scratch in the field nestled tight along the profile of the nose. This mark is very easy to miss. MDS with a small rim cud break at star 1, a series of tiny rim cuds at stars 6-9, and a larger rim cud over OF. Graded MS65 Choice and tied for CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #24095. Bland says MS67 and CC#2. Our grade is MS66. Previously removed from an NGC slab graded MS66RB (NGC label #1731138-005). The attribution and Ahumada provenance are noted on the PCGS label.
