1837 N-16 R3 Plain Hair Cord, Medium Letters PCGS graded MS65 Red & Brown. Spectacular lustrous mint red just starting to mellow to light steel brown with about three-fourths of the mint color remaining, mostly on the obverse. Just a few trivial marks from flawless. The notable marks are a thin diagonal nick in the field right of star 4, a small spot of darker toning close over the nostril, and another spot on the cheek right of the lower lip. LDS. The reverse die is worn and the repunching on the C in AMERICA is gone. Graded MS66 and CC#2 in the Bland census. Noyes says MS65 and tied for CC#1, his photo #31749. Our grade is MS65. Comes with a nice provenance. The attribution and Ahumada provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; finest RB of the variety at both services. PCGS #37175. Estimate Value $2,000 - UP
