1837 N-14 R2 Plain Hair Cord, Medium Letters PCGS graded MS64 Red & Brown. Slightly faded mint red mellowing to bluish steel brown and light olive with about a third of the red remaining, mostly on the reverse. No spots or stains, and the only notable mark is a dull but rather strong rim nick over the F in OF. Otherwise this cent is absolutely choice and the eye appeal is outstanding. MDS. The obverse fields are covered with fine die flowlines and the always-present die cracks through the date and stars 1-6 are clear. Called MS63 and tied for CC#1 honors in the Noyes census, his photo #37249. Bland says MS63 and tied for CC#2 in his census. Our grade is MS63+. The attribution and Holmes-Ahumada provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 1 finer in 65 for the variety. PCGS #37169. Estimate Value $2,000 - UP
