1800/79 S-196 R1 Overdate 80 over 79, Style II Hair VF35. Very attractive glossy medium chocolate brown with frosty lighter brown in protected areas and darker steel brown on the highpoints. No roughness or verdigris and only a few trivial contact marks. A faint vertical hairline left of the eye and a thin diagonal nick in the field over the end of the bust are good identifying marks. MDS, Breen state II. The dies are clashed but the obverse is uncracked. A very nice example of this popular overdate variety, and the overdate feature is bold. Estimate Value $1,500 - UP
