1808 S-278 R3 Classic Head F12. Sharpness close to F15 but there are traces of shallow verdigris or crud in protected areas. A few faint hairlines are hidden in the toning on the obverse and a small patch of roughness shows at the top of the first T in STATES. Glossy medium to dark chocolate brown with lighter chocolate toning on the right side of the obverse. MDS, Breen state III. Crumbling shows in the dentils under the date and there are clashmarks on both sides. Struck with the obverse die misaligned to K-2.5 while the reverse is properly centered on the planchet.
