Lot 206

1803 S-247 R3 "Mumps" Obverse PCGS Genuine, XF Details, Environmental Damage. Dark olive brown and steel with lighter steel brown and chocolate toning on the obverse highpoints. Very fine roughness covers the planchet and the surfaces are close to matte. Perhaps a proper brushing could bring some more life back to this cent. No marks or verdigris. Extremely rare terminal die state, Breen state III late. The die crack that arcs through the top of the U in UNITED is strong and there are tiny rim cud breaks at either end of this crack. Another great die state in this superb collection. Our grade is VF25 sharpness net F12. The attribution and Reynolds provenance are noted on the PCGS Secure label. Estimate Value $500 - UP
Provenance unrecorded.
