1798 S-185 R2 Style II Hair, Small 8 PCGS graded XF45+. Choice glossy medium chocolate brown. Smooth and very attractive, nearly flawless with just light wear on the devices. The only notable marks are a trail of tiny ticks below the F in OF. Rare terminal die state (TDS), Breen state VIII, with a clearly defined rim cud break at IC in AMERICA. All the die cracks and clashmarks described by Breen are clear and the reverse is rotated 20 degrees CCW. A very nice cent that comes with a very nice provenance. Graded VF30 by Del Bland Noyes says VF25 net VF20 and tied for CC#17 overall but CC#2 of the terminal die state. Our grade is VF35.
