1796 S-81 R3 Liberty Cap PCGS graded AU55, CAC Approved. Choice glossy chocolate brown with darker steel brown toning on the highpoints and frosty lighter brown covering the protected areas. A beautiful, flawless Liberty Cap cent with perfectly smooth surfaces. Just the barest hint of rub on the highest points of the design from mint state. Sharply struck MDS, Breen state I. ONE CENT is fully impressed, which is quite unusual for the variety. A premium cent in every respect with eye appeal surpassing that found on many mint state early cents. Called EF45 and tied for CC#5 in the Noyes census, his photo #23972. Bland also says EF45 but he has it tied for CC#6. Our grade is a very choice EF45+. The attribution and Koshkarian provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 3; 1 finer in 63 for the variety. Estimate Value $20,000 - UP
