Attica, Athens. Silver Tetradrachm (16.61 g), ca. 500/490-485/0 BC. Helmeted head of Athena right, wearing earring. Rev. AΘE, owl standing right, head facing; above to left, olive-spray with berry; all within incuse square. (Seltman grp. C (uncertain dies, perhaps A39/P41); Asyut grp. V; SNG Copenhagen 15). Very rare. An attractive example of this early issue, of superb Archaic style. Well centered and darkly toned. Choice very fine. Estimate $8,000UP
