AN UNUSUAL AND RARE ANTIQUE BRITISH MILITARY LIGHT DRAGOON FLINTLOCK PISTOL. An unusual and rare antique British military Light Dragoon pattern flintlock service pistol, dated 1800. 9".65 cal. smooth-bore barrel with two PROOFS and 'TL' at breech and an unusual plug for a lanyard ring or wire (for the addition of a possible trip wire). Regulation brass furniture includes a trigger guard with Regimental marks: (C/38). Lock marked with a 'CROWN' over 'GR' (King George III), 'TOWER' (Tower of London), 'TL', and a small 'CROWN' over the 'BROAD ARROW' (government ownership mark). The stock is sound, lightly sanded, a few stress cracks (some remnants of stock markings 'I*D' visible on the left side at the rear of side plate), light scratches and dings from handling. There are inspector's marks of a 'CROWN' over '53' (X 2) above the right side of the trigger guard, a 'STORES KEEPER'S' mark and date of '1800' just behind the rear of lock plate. Captive ram rod. Lock is in good mechanical working order. The pistol is in it's original flintlock configuration. 15.75" overall. A very good example. Note; all steel parts have an old professional re-blue finish. Some surface powder rust that will clean. $2,000 - 4,000
