Handsome 19th Century English Officer's Sword with Scabbard. Blade etched "Henry Calvert 11th NY Vol. Cavalry Scott's (900) 1862-1865. Sword is etched on the reverse with English cipher, crown GR, and maker's name Craig and Kilgour, 89 George St. Edinburgh. A typical English officer's sword with three branch iron guard, iron mounts, and copper wire wrapped over shark skin grip. Blade 3" overall length 41". Sword is presented in a late 19th, early 20th century display case with affixed plaque with same information on blade and is in very good condition given its age. Blade is in fine condition, with most of its polish, etching is genuine to the 19th century. Scabbard is good with a few dings and minor pitting. $2,000 - 4,000
