Byzantine Bronze Gasbal Necklace. A substantial, circular bronze pendant, bearing figural designs rendered in relief is suspended from the original bronze chain; a comparatively delicate bronze cross pendant hangs down from the lower edge of the circular pendant. One one side, the heavily draped, haloed Virgin appears within a decorative medallion. On the other side bears the image of a haloed, martial saint, similarly placed within an ornamental medallion, with Greek inscription including the Chi Rho at left. Beautiful hard olive green patina.
