Salinger, J.D. (1919-2010) Acclaimed New York writer and novelist, Jerome David (J.D.) Salinger in 1951 became one of the most influential 20th-century American writers with his landmark novel, Catcher in the Rye. Salinger subsequently became quite reclusive, published infrequently and rarely gave interviews. Married 3 times his privacy was paramount over the years living in New Hampshire. In spite of remaining steadfastly out of the spotlight his works remained very popular. Prior to his death CATCHER IN THE RYE continued to sell 250,000 copies per year. Offered here is a very scarce cut signature (removed from a framed presentation), a payment in advance receipt dated Feb. 15, 1979. Receipt was trimmed to 1½ x 2½". Signature is bold and a must for collectors of American authors. $400 - 600

Realized $250
