Kipling, Rudyard and Frederick C. Selous. Kipling (1865-1936) was a British author and journalist and the 1907 winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature. Typed letter signed, on personal letterhead, 1 page, 8½ x 7¼", Bateman's Burwash, Sussex. To Henry J. Ford (1860-1941), the English artist and illustrator, especially known for his book illustrations, including for A School History of England by Kipling and C. R. L. Fletcher; he also designed the first costume for Peter Pan. Kipling thanks Ford for sending his telegram to Major Creighton. "…I knew he lived near you, but did not know his address, so I risked bothering you…." Matted with an image of Kipling and framed to an overall size of 14¾ x 19½". Fine. With an autograph letter signed by Frederick C. Selous ("F.C. Selous"), the British hunter and African explorer (1851-1917) immortalized by H. Rider Haggard in King Solomon's Mines, 2 pages, 7 x 4½", Barrymore House, Wargrave, May 20, 1897. To Dr. Dunn, regarding a box of eggs received, in whichc the Stone Plover eggs were intact but the two unblown Redshanks were broken. $150 - 200
