ANTIQUE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR U.S MODEL 1860 CAVALRY SWORD DATED 1864. A good antique American Civil War U.S. model 1860 cavalry sword dated 1864. 34.75" curved single edge blade made by "Ames Mfg. Co., Chicopee, Mass', and 'J.F.' (Inspector mark) stamped on blade and pommel. Original twisted brass wire over leather covered wood grip with flaking loses. Brass hilt/guard has dark age patina. Blade is well marked with age spotting and approx. 6" of forward end with heavy pitting extending to the tip. The steel scabbard is marked '26' on the drag and is a replacement. 42.25" overall. $600 - 800
