ANTIQUE CIVIL WAR PERIOD U.S. MILITARY MODEL 1816 MUSKET. An antique U.S. Military Model 1816 Flintlock service musket made at the HARPERS FERRY armory and dated 1835. Converted to percussion for the Civil War. Musket has been cut back/reduced to musketoon length. Old replacement front barrel band (hand made). Older french-style trumpet shaped steel ram rod. 33".69 cal. barrel. Lock is in good mechanical working order. 48.5" overall length. Note; Many muskets were altered during the period of use due to damage sustained and for specific function. Short musketoons were needed for ship, cavalry, and artillery use. $800 - 1,000
