U.S. MILITARY SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1795 TYPE II FLINTLOCK SERVICE MUSKET. A U.S. Military Model 1795 SPRINGFIELD Type II Flintlock Service Musket, dated 1807 on the butt plate and 1809 on the lock. 42".71 cal. barrel secured to stock by 3 barrel bands. All steel regulation pattern furniture. Lock is in good mechanical working order and is marked: 'U.S' over an 'EAGLE' and 'SPRINGFIELD' in a horizontal curve forward of the hammer. The stock is solid with some loses at the upper rear edge of the lock mortise; some minor stress cracks and loses on both upper edges of the fore-end; scratches and dings from service. All steel part surfaces have a dark age patina. Note; The TYPE II - was made from 1806-1809, approx. 10,000 made. Most were issued for the War of 1812. Restoration: It is our opinion that the lock has been repaired during the period of use or was restored/reconverted long ago using original parts when they were available. $1,500 - 2,500
