1825 C-2 R1 VG8. Double Struck Way Off Center. Glossy dark steel brown and chocolate with lighter brown toning in the protected areas on both sides. No roughness, and the only mark is a pinprick between the 5 and the curl above. This piece was struck twice. The first strike was centered on the planchet and the second was 90-95% off center leaving "25" above the head and "ES" from the opposing STATES off the end of the wreath stem. A neat mint error that is visible to the unaided eye. EDS, Manley state 1.0. Removed from an NGC slab graded VG8 (NGC label #3209516-004 included, and it shows the attribution and "2nd Strike 95% Off Center Mint Error" on the label). Estimated Value $400-UP
