Over 30 Signed Commemorative Air Mail Covers: Pilots, Aces, & Crews of Historic Firsts in Flight and Records Late 1920s. Excellent collection of the people behind some of the most historic achievements in flight from World War I to the late 1920s all signed on commemorative covers celebrating a variety of inaugural airmail services. Also included are numerous newspaper clippings from the time regarding these achievements. Included are Arthur R. Brown Famous World War I Flying Ace of The Royal Air Force officially credited with shooting down Manfred von Richthofen, the "Red Baron", John H. Towers (later Pacific Fleet Commander) & Albert C. Read Trans-Atlantic Flight in 1919 and awarded the Navy Cross and Congressional Gold Medal, E. K. Campbell, at the time altitude record holder, Bert Hinkler London to Australia flyer, Leslie Arnold, first aerial circumnavigation in 1924 (175 days), Jean and Jeanette Piccard first into the stratosphere, Elinor Smith, pioneering American aviator once known as "The Flying Flapper of Freeport" and one of the youngest ever to take to the skies, world gliding record holders, speed race holders, early airship notables and many more.
All in fine to excellent condtion and of particular interest to fans regarding the history of flight.
