Egyptian Wooden Ptah-Seker-Osiris Figure in Polychrome. Ptolemaic Period 304-30 BC. The obelisk is hollow and would have contained a scroll. The mummiform figure wears a crown of double plumes representing the upper and lower kingdoms with a vertical column of hieroglyphics. Exhibits normal aging and a few old repairs. Painting and all parts fully original. Cf. Charles Ede Collecting Antiquities #263; Cf. Goldberg's Sept. 21, 1990 Sale #261. Height: 18". Estimated Value $2,000 - 2,500

Ex Collection of Lorene Kenny, Professor of Islamic and Religious Studies at UFT (Toronto University) and adjunct at Cairo University 1950s -1970s. Known for translating the works of Naguib Mahfouz.
