Sumerian collared stamp seal with a high dome and flat base engraved with a striding ibex surrounded by drilled dot decoration fashioned from a polished, black and white veined hard stone. Ca. late Uruk-Jemdet Nasr period, 3300-2900 B.C. ¾" diameter at base (one collar chipped). For close parallels see Erlenmeyer Coll., Christies, London, 6 June 1989, Lots 245, 246 for shape, stone type; also second paragraph, p. 30, top, and seal impressions, p. 58, bottom, #225, third from left for drilled decoration.
