Outstanding Miniature Portrait of Lord Admiral Horation Nelson ca. Early 1800s. Extremely fine portrait miniature of Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805), in uniform, facing slightly left. He wears his dress uniform resplendent in his most famous medals. Astounding detail and artistry most especially the brightness to the eyes and the fiber of the hair. Portrait is signed to outer right edge and appears to read as "Remary" and indeed painted in guache on a thin sheet of "bone". The miniature is in a vintage brass frame glazed with convex glass It is oval in shape and measures approximately 3.25" x 2.5". Very impressive and in excellent condition. Estimated Value $450 - 650
