Sykes, Charles Robinson. The Spirit of Ecstasy. One of the most instantly recognizable icons inside the automotive industry. The Spirit of Ecstasy has been adorning the hoods of Rolls-Royce motor cars for nearly a century. The ornament was designed by Charles Robinson Sykes, an English sculptor, and commissioned by the automaker to give their cars an added sense of occasion. Back in the 1930s, the company mascot was also displayed in larger form in Rolls-Royce showrooms. Offered here is a contemporary take on those displays. A monumental recreation in gilt bronze and marble of superior quality. The sculpture with pedestal is 32" and at its widest, 14" in wingspan. The Spirit of Ecstasy rests on a pedestal of burgundy marble with a gilt ornamental band accent. This piece is a bold statement, grand and significant.
