1955 Brooklyn Dodgers World Series Collection of Signed Pieces. In 1930 Willard Mullin, a noted sports cartoonist, fixed the Brooklyn team with the lovable nickname of "Dem Bums". In 1955 World Series matched the Brooklyn Dodgers against the New York Yankees, with the Dodgers winning the Series in seven games to capture their first championship while in Brooklyn. Offered is a collection of signatures and pieces that celebrate that series. The first is an autograph by Johnny Podres, the first player to ever be awarded MVP on a restirike image of Leo O'Meilas' legendary Daily News front page after the Series in metal frame 11 x 14". Signed and inscribed 55 WS MVP. The second is a sepia toned re-strike photo that ran in the NY Times of catcher (#39) Roy Campanella lifting Johnny Podres in the air with third baseman, Don Hoak charging in, after the final out of the seventh and deciding game, of the '55 Series. 16 x 18", very handsomely framed and matted and again signed by MVP, Johnny Podres. Finally a later reprint of the 1955 World Series box office card advertising the very first game of the 1955 World Series boasting 6 Dodgers autographs, 3 by the players who participated in the series, Johnny Podres, Carl Erskine and Clem Labine, The other three are Andy Pafko (51-52), Ransom Jackson (56-57) and Jim Gentile (LA Dodgers 56 & 57), very nicely presented, matted and framed to 27½ x 20" All three pieces in excellent condition.
