Signed First Day Cover, Baseball Centenary 1939, by 9 Brooklyn Dodgers, 1940 Opening Day Ticket. This first day cover for the Baseball Centennial Stamp is posted on the FDOI, June 12th, 1939. The cachet is the first colorprinted design by Leatherstocking in very good condition. This issue is probably the most sought after sports topical first day cover. Cover has been exploded to reveal the 9 Brooklyn Dodgers signatures obtained on back, highly likely around the period given all in various brands of fountain pen ink and on the 39-40 Dodgers roster. The nine signatures include Leo Durocher, Dolph Camilli, Harry A. "Cookie" Lavagetto, Pete Coscarat, Joe Medwick, Dixie Walker, Babe Phelps, Van Mungo and General Manager of the Dodgers Larry MacPhail from 1938-1942 and then became President/Part Owner NY Yankees. Also included in this framed piece is an original, Opening Day 1940, Ebbets Field ticket stub that was printed and cut to a catcher's mitt, an admission price of $1.65. Estimated Value $300 - 500

Realized $169
