Attica, Athens. Silver Tetradrachm (16.93g), ca. 459-449 BC EF. Struck during the period of Cimon's exile and until his death, 459-449 BC. Head of Athena wearing crested helmet ornamented with three olive-leaves and floral scroll. Reverse: AΘE. Robust owl standing, head facing; tail feathers composed of three separate feathers; olive twig and crescent behind. Starr Group V. B; Svoronos plate 9, 4-12. Beautiful style, well struck and attractively toned. Extremely Fine.
