1851 N-7 R1 PCGS graded MS63 Red & Brown. Lustrous mint red fading to steel brown with more than a third of the mint color remaining on each side. The only significant defect is a shallow but distracting low spot in the field over star 1, as struck. The only other marks are a barely visible vertical struck-through line down from the curl under the ear and a vertical planchet flake in the field before the chin, both as struck. MDS, die state a late. The die lines at the inner curl are dull but visible. Our grade is MS63. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 1 finer in 64.
Estimated Value $350-UP.
Ex Denis Loring 10-1996-R. S. Brown, Jr. (privately).
