Lot 764

1842 N-3 R3 Large Date PCGS graded MS63 Brown. Lustrous light steel brown with a few tiny peeps of faded mint color on the reverse. Delicate overtones of light bluish steel cover both sides and this cent offers excellent eye appeal. The notable marks are a planchet flake in the field at the tip of the nose and a spot of darker toning at the dentil tips over star 9. M-LDS, die state b. The fine die lines at UNI are gone and the fields show fine radial flowlines that create a satiny look. Our grade is MS62, tied for CC#9 for the variety in the Grellman census. Comes with a nice provenance. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 2 finer: 1 in 64, 1 in 65+.
Estimated Value $600-UP.
