Lot 730

1837 N-17 R4 Plain Hair Cord, Medium Letters PCGS graded AU55. Frosty medium steel brown and chocolate. Excellent eye appeal showing only a few minor marks. The notable ones are a faint spot of slightly darker toning midway between stars 1 & 2, a few small nicks on the bust, and a tiny nick under the right corner of the eye. E-MDS. There is a small but clearly defined rim cud break at star 5 and the crack through the bottom of UNITED and the ribbon is clear, but the additional die crack from the end of the wreath stem to the dentils has not formed. Our grade is EF40+, close to EF45. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 5 finer: 1 in 58+, 2 in 63, 2 in 65.
Estimated Value $600-UP.
Ex Philip Van Cleave, Kagin's 2/1/1986:4350.
