Lot 714

1835 N-6 R1 Head of 1834, Small 8 & Stars PCGS graded MS64 Brown, CAC Approved. Very attractive lustrous light steel brown. Satiny mint frost covers the planchet and the eye appeal is excellent. Just a few trivial marks, none visible without the aid of a glass. The notable ones are a tiny planchet flake on the jaw just left of the earlobe, two thin nicks under star 8, and a barely visible planchet fissure (as struck) in the dentils under star 1. Nicely struck E-MDS. The fields are covered with microscopic die flowlines and a tiny rim cud shows in the dentils between stars 2 & 3, but the repunching on the C in AMERICA remains clear. There is a double and triple profile on stars 6-12 (from die bounce). Our grade is MS60.
Estimated Value $1,000-UP.
Ex J. R. Frankenfield, McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Superior 2/17/2001:1075-Jack Wadlington.
