Lot 650

1819 N-10 R4 NGC graded MS66 Brown. Lustrous mint red fading to steel brown with 25% of the red remaining on the obverse and 85% on the reverse. Why this cent doesn't have an "RB" designation from NGC is a mystery. The only defects are several spots of darker olive brown and steel toning. The notable ones are at the T n LIBERTY, between stars 8 & 9, in the field close before the forelock, and on the right side of the first T in STATES. No carbon or contact marks. MDS. The die crack from the 9 in the date through stars 13-10 is clear and the lower half of the C in CENT is thin but still complete. Graded MS60 and tied for CC#4 in the Noyes census, his photo #27475. Del Bland says MS65 and tied for finest known honors. Our grade is MS63+. Comes with a nice provenance that can be traced back nearly a century.
Estimated Value $4,000-UP.
