Lot 645

1818 N-10 R1. PCGS graded MS-63 Red & Brown. Choice lustrous mint red fading to bluish steel brown. About 75% of the obverse shows faded mint color while nearly a third of the reverse displays some faded red. The surfaces are satiny and virtually flawless. The only notable defect is a shallow planchet void or flake on the end of the chin. M-LDS with a die crack through the date and stars. Most likely from the famous Randall Hoard of mint state cents discovered shortly after the end of the US Civil War, but this is an especially nice one. Our Grade is MS63. Pop 2; 7 finer at PCGS for the variety, 1 in 63+, 4 in 64, 2 in 65 (PCGS # 36629) .
Estimated Value $750-UP.
Ex H. Craig Hamling 4/2010.
