Lot 630

1816 N-8 R3 PCGS graded MS60 Brown. Frosty bluish steel and olive brown with some lighter chocolate toning at stars 4-8 and hints of very faded mint red in protected areas on both sides. The surfaces are satiny and attractive showing only a hint of friction on the highest points of the devices. The only marks are a collection of tiny pinpricks in the field off the end of the nose and some thin nicks around the T in CENT. The forelock is softly struck, as usual for this variety, but everything else is nicely impressed. M-LDS with a rim cud break from star 11 to star 12 and another from star 8.5 to star 10. The final rim cud from star 3 to star 4 has not formed. Graded AU55 by Bland and Noyes, Noyes photo #31114. Our grade is AU55 as well. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label.
Estimated Value $600-UP.
Ex Stuart Levine (via Del Bland) 4/1992-Bob Vail, Superior 9/7/1997:361-Don Peterson (lot ticket and Vail collection envelope included).
