Lot 601
1805 S-267 R1 Double Struck Off Center NGC graded VG8. Medium steel brown and chocolate. The surfaces are slightly dull but there is no roughness or verdigris. Double struck. The first impression was centered on the planchet while the second strike was 80% off center to K-4.5. The off-center impression left the lowest curl and 1 from the date visible at the bust tip while TATE is visible over F-AM on the reverse. Another nice mint error, one that is easy to explain based on the evidence. Our grade is G5. The "Mint Error" and "Double Struck 2nd Strike 80% Off Center" features along with the attribution and Mervis provenance are all mentioned on the NGC label.
