Lot 514

1797 S-135 R3 VF30. Sharpness AU50 but there was an "X" lightly scratched on the obverse, and the part of the scratch on the upper neck was smoothed. There are a couple more light contact marks on the reverse, mostly over the T in CENT. No roughness or verdigris. Glossy medium brown mixed with medium chocolate. The fields are hard and smooth. Quite possibly one of the mint state Nichols Hoard cents that was mishandled long ago. Not perfect sharp and but quite attractive.
Estimated Value $750-UP.
Ex Rod Burress-the Norman Wolfe collection.

Realized $1,028
