1795 S-78 R1 Plain Edge PCGS graded AU53. Very attractive glossy light to medium chocolate brown with frosty lighter bluish steel brown toning in protected areas on the reverse. A perfect example for the grade, flawless in every respect except for a planchet flake on the top of the first T in STATES, as struck. E-MDS, Breen state II. There are fine die clashmarks on both sides but the tiny chip under the jaw has not formed. Called EF40 by Noyes and Bland, Noyes photo #23909. Our grade is EF40.
