Lot 486

1795 S-76b R1 Plain Edge G4+. The obverse is a few points sharper while the reverse is slightly weaker, which is typical of this variety. Glossy medium chocolate and olive brown. The planchet is smooth, free of any hint of corrosion or verdigris, but there are a few obvious marks. The notable ones are a dig in the center of the neck, a smaller one on the bust, and another at the top of the wreath. Otherwise this cent is choice. The date is bold and the legends are easily readable. EDS before any swelling in the obverse fields.
Estimated Value $200-UP.
Ex Superior 10/6/1991:738 (lot ticket included).

Realized $294
