Miro, Joan (1893-1983). Spanish Surrealist artist known for creating vivid unreal worlds of flatly abstract, biomorphic figures juxtaposed against limitless landscapes. Though he is oft described as an abstract painter, Miró strictly denied the association, stating, "For me, a form is never something abstract; it is always a sign of something. It is always a man, a bird, or something else. For me painting is never form for form's sake".

Signature ("Miro"). One page, 8½ x 11", n.p., n.d. On a color reproduction of one of his works. In pencil. Matted for an overall size of 11½ x 14½". In very fine condition.

Here, Miró signs one of his colorful works of fanciful shapes and sparkling colors -- choosing an orange-red, deep yellow, lime green, and cadet blue to emphasize the swirls and forms of this composition.
Estimated Value $250 - 300.
Provenance: Alexander Autographs, Inc., Connecticut.

Realized $374
